Blue Ridge Respite will host a community-centered event as part of the Tom Tom Festival. Titled “Courage in Community – Building a Dementia-Friendly Future,” this free, one-day gathering invites residents to come together, share experiences, and explore how to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for people living with dementia.
The event will take place at Live Arts and is open to all, whether you are directly impacted by dementia, care for someone who is, or simply want to better understand how to support others in your community.
A Day of Learning, Sharing, and Connection
Designed as an open community conversation, the event will bring together: individuals living with dementia, family members and caregivers, healthcare and service professionals, community members, and neighbors.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in three interactive sessions, each offering space to learn, ask questions, and share perspectives. Attendees are welcome to join one session or stay for the full day.
By fostering understanding, reducing stigma, and encouraging collaboration, “Courage in Community” aims to strengthen local support networks and empower residents to take action.
