Virginia Breeze is an intercity bus service managed by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) designed to connect underserved rural areas and college towns with major cities, airports, and transportation hubs across the Commonwealth.
The system operates 5 bus routes spanning 1,450 miles with 36 stations, transporting approximately 60,000 annual riders.
Currently, two Virginia Breeze routes stop in Charlottesville:
- Piedmont Express: Danville-Altavista-Lynchburg-Amherst-Charlottesville-Culpeper-Warrenton-Gainesville-Dulles Airport-Washington D.C.
- Tidewater Current: Harrisonburg-Staunton, Charlottesville-Richmond-Richmond Airport-New Kent-Williamsburg-Newport News-Norfolk-Virginia Beach
📍 Location: Virginia Breeze busses stop in Charlottesville at the bus shelters on Alderman Road at intersection of Floyd Drive. This is near the Lower West lot / Carl Smith Center by Scott Stadium.
(NOTE!: On UVA football home games, the Arlington Blvd. Orange Theory Fitness bus stop at 1935 Arlington Blvd. will be used.)
