Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) is the public transportation system serving Charlottesville, which provides fixed-route bus services to key town locations, including the University of Virginia, downtown Charlottesville, shopping centers, and residential neighborhoods.

  • CAT operates 12 fixed routes (including  the Trolley) with varying schedules, including weekday, weekend, and holiday services
  • Days and hours of operation: Monday through Saturday, ~6:00 AM ~ 10:30 PM
  • All CAT buses are accessible to people with disabilities and are wheelchair lift equipped

People with disabilities who are unable to use CAT buses can apply for the free ADA Paratransit Service operated by Jaunt.
