Volunteer Driver Programs

Region 10 also offers other ways to travel beyond public transit services. One of the available options is Volunteer Driver Programs (VDP), which are community-based transportation services in which volunteers use their own or program-provided vehicles to help individuals who have difficulty accessing transportation. These programs typically serve seniors, individuals with disabilities, low-income residents, or those living in rural areas with limited public transit options.

Currently, in Region 10, two senior communities are offering organized volunteer driver services. These services are not open to the public. A person must become a member of such a community to receive a ride from a volunteer driver.
