Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) has announced changes to Route 9, effective Monday, October 19, 2026, due to the closure of Gentry Lane to public traffic and upcoming construction on Dairy Road. The revised route and schedule will remain in effect until further notice.
Under the new routing, Route 9 will serve Kroger on Hydraulic Road, replacing its previous endpoint at Grove Road and Concord Drive. The route will no longer travel along Gentry Lane, Frontage Road, Dairy Road, or Grove Road. However, it will continue serving key destinations, including Downtown Transit Station, UVA Hospital, the YMCA, and Pinn Hall (inbound).
CAT has also adjusted some arrival and departure times for both weekday and Saturday service. Riders are encouraged to review the updated route map and schedule before October 19 to determine how these changes may affect their trips.
CAT’s fixed-route bus service remains fare-free.
