PATH at Two Community Events This Weekend in Charlottesville

This Saturday, May 3rd, PATH will be joining two exciting community events in Charlottesville: the 2025 How-To Festival at the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library and the Senior Health & Wellness Expo at the Brooks Family YMCA. Both events are free and open to the public—and PATH will be there to share information about local transportation resources and connect with community members.

Learn Something New at the 2025 How-To Festival

Location: Central Library, 201 E. Market St, Charlottesville, VA
Time: Saturday, May 3rd, 10:00AM – 1:00PM

The 2025 How-To Festival invites you to learn 30 things in 3 hours in a fun, fast-paced library takeover! This free, family-friendly event features workshops, demonstrations, and interactive activities for all ages. Topics include:

  • 18th-century textile spinning
  • Public transportation tips
  • Cooking demos
  • Bookmaking and woodworking
  • Music, movement, crafts, and more

New this year:

  • Master the squat with The Strength Initiative
  • Create floral arrangements using theater-inspired practices with Giardino Foresta
  • Boost your Scrabble skills with the Cville Scrabble Club
  • Explore the health benefits of floating with AquaFloat

And don’t miss the friendly llamas from Lower Sherwood Farm or the chance to grab a comic during Free Comic Book Day!

Senior Health & Wellness Expo at Brooks Family YMCA

Location: Brooks Family YMCA, Charlottesville
Time: Saturday, May 3 | 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Audience: Adults 50+ | No registration required

This free wellness-focused event is a great opportunity for older adults to explore local resources, learn new skills, and engage in healthy activities. The expo will feature:

  • Educational sessions on wills, safety, and long-term care
  • Information tables covering nutrition, public transportation, social connection, and caregiver support
  • Sample fitness classes including Tai Chi, Chair Yoga, and Balance
  • Light refreshments provided

This is your chance to explore community supports that help you age well and stay active.
