Greene County Senior Community Center Workshop Report

On Wednesday, April 2nd, the Green County Community Center in Stanardsville hosted the latest edition of the Transportation Solutions Workshop, organized by PATH in partnership with the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA). The event aimed to support older adults and community members in navigating local and regional transportation options more effectively.

The workshop provided in-depth information about transportation resources available through Jaunt, with a special focus on services tailored to Greene County residents. Attendees learned how to schedule rides, understand service areas, and take advantage of features designed to improve accessibility and convenience. Presenters also offered practical guidance on traveling to Charlottesville and surrounding metropolitan areas within Albemarle County.

In addition to Jaunt services, the workshop introduced participants to other key transit services, including Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT), MicroCAT, University Transit Service (UTS), and Afton Express. The session aimed to help community members feel more confident in using public transportation for daily needs such as medical appointments, shopping, and social activities.

The event welcomed 20 participants, creating a space for meaningful dialogue. Attendees shared personal experiences with public transit, exchanged tips, and provided feedback on the transportation barriers they currently face. Their input will help inform ongoing efforts to improve mobility and transportation equity across the region.
