PATH Hosts Transportation Workshop in Lovingston to Address Critical Access Needs

On April 15th, the PATH in collaboration with the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA), held a Transportation Solutions Workshop at the Cecilia Epps JABA Senior Community Center in Lovingston.

The workshop was part of an initiative aimed at equipping older adults and individuals with disabilities with tools to better understand and utilize available public transportation. Residents of Nelson County often face unique challenges when it comes to accessing medical care and other essential services—many of which are located outside the County in Charlottesville. With limited public transit options, these barriers can significantly affect quality of life.

The session introduced attendees to a variety of transportation resources, with a primary focus on Jaunt’s offerings. Presenters walked participants through how to schedule rides, understand service boundaries, and make the most of accessibility features tailored to those with special mobility needs. In addition, the workshop spotlighted other regional transportation providers, including Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT), MicroCAT, University Transit Service (UTS), and Afton Express, expanding the conversation to routes that connect residents to the larger Region 10 area.

This workshop is one of several being held across Region 10 to raise awareness and improve mobility solutions. By fostering local knowledge and dialogue, PATH and its partners aim to build a more connected transportation landscape for all residents in Region 10.
